Maintenance Guides
To ensure the reliability and effectiveness of armor and additional gear, proper maintenance and care are essential.
Carriers
- Cleaning and Inspection: Occasional cleaning is crucial for preserving the quality of your gear. Follow these steps:
a. Remove Attachments and Accessories: Detach any removable components such as plates, pouches, or fasteners before cleaning to avoid damage or interference.
b. Handwashing: Use mild detergent and warm water to gently clean the fabric components. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaning agents that could degrade or compromise the materials.
c. Scrubbing and Rinsing: Use a soft brush or sponge to remove dirt, debris, and stains. Pay attention to areas that come into contact with sweat, oils, or contaminants. Thoroughly rinse the gear to remove all soap residues.
d. Drying: Allow the gear to air dry completely in a well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight or excessive heat, as they can cause fabric and material degradation.
e. Inspection: Regularly inspect the gear for any signs of damage, such as tears, loose stitching, or weakened straps. Replace or repair damaged components promptly to ensure optimal performance.
- Storage: Proper storage plays a crucial role in preserving the functionality of carriers and gear. Consider the following tips:
a. Clean Before Storage: Ensure that the gear is clean and dry before storing it to prevent the growth of mold, mildew, or unpleasant odors.
b. Preferred Storage Conditions: Store the gear in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Excessive heat, moisture, and UV exposure can degrade the materials and compromise their performance.
c. Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the gear away from sharp or abrasive objects that could puncture or damage the fabric or protective plates.
d. Proper Hanging and Folding: If possible, hang the gear on sturdy hangers or hooks to maintain its shape. Make sure to remove plates to reduce stress on materials while hanging. Alternatively, fold it neatly to its natural fold to avoid unnecessary creasing or deformation.
Body Armor and Plates
a. Cleaning: Clean the plates with a soft cloth or sponge and mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that can scratch or degrade the protective surface.
b. Inspection: Regularly inspect the plates for any cracks, chips, or signs of damage. Damaged plates should be replaced immediately to ensure optimal protection.
c. Storage: Store the plates in a safe and secure location to avoid accidental damage. Use protective covers or sleeves to prevent scratches or dents. Lay plates down flat and not upright.
